Stump grinding is the process of utilizing specific machinery designed to cut and almost grind away at both the above and subsurface portions of the stump without digging or excavating. The machinery used otherwise known as a “Stump Grinder” or “Stump Cutter” has a rotating steel disc with carbide teeth that is designed to cut through, wood, dirt, even some rock, what is left varies from fine to coursely mixed wood and dirt “pulp”. This debris is then used to backfill the area previously occupied by the stump.
Keep in mind a stump and dirt prior to grinding is in its most dense form, once cut and mixed the resulting debris has a good bit of air in it leaving a mound of grinding debris usually much larger than the stump it replaced. This excess grinding debris can be left to be utilized as a natural mulch/compost or removed entirely.
Barren Tree Solutions is equipped with stump grinders large and small to fit any job application. Whether you need to get rid of a stump to restore the area to turfgrass or you wish to plant something new, our crews are trained to remove unwanted stumps of any size.
Aesthetically stumps are ugly, they protrude from the ground (even when cut as low as practical). They can be a tripping hazard, or an obsticle when mowing your yard… when having a tree removed why not make it complete?
Stumps decay/rot over time, this decaying process will encourage if not requires a certain set of fungi and insects to occur. While this is not necessarily bad it may not be something you wish to have in your yard, if so ask about our stump grinding options for your next tree removal project.
